The station square in the city of Trostyanets suffered significant damage during the occupation in March 2022 as a result of enemy shelling with heavy artillery and large-scale fires. Before the full-scale war began, the location was one of the main public spaces in the community, an important transport hub and a center of commercial activity.

It was one of the main public spaces for the community in the city before the war. The square is used both as a transport hub and as a center of commercial activity. All buildings and structures were damaged as a result of heavy artillery shelling and fires in March 2022.
Builders have already completed the dismantling of destroyed and damaged objects.
Work is currently underway to install storm drains, reinforced concrete wells, pipes and temporary fencing around the building demolition sites.
The project provides for the partial improvement of the central part of the city, the construction of an access road to the railway station with the arrangement of a bus parking area and the laying of external communication networks located under the roadway.

We are rebuilding the square as part of a comprehensive restoration program for populated areas. The following work is currently underway:
- construction of a driveway
- installation of temporary fencing
- construction of a retaining wall
- preparation of the soil for sowing lawn grass.
In addition, additional measures have been agreed upon: the organization of access to the square from the railway station and the construction of parking lots and parking spaces for passenger transport.
The square in Trostyanets will not only be restored, but also renovated to meet modern standards of comfort, safety and accessibility. It will once again become the center of public life, a place for meetings and cultural events, and an important transport hub for the city.
The reconstruction of infrastructure facilities, buildings, structures, external networks and the adjacent territory of the square in the city of Trostyanets, Sumy region, is part of the first stage of infrastructure reconstruction and is being implemented as part of an experimental project to restore settlements in five regions of Ukraine that have suffered as a result of russia’s armed aggression.
