Montabaur (Federal Republic of Germany) – a strategic partner of the Trostyanets Hromada
DATE of signing the partnership agreement: 06.04.2023
Current Mayor: Melanie Leicher
The partnership between the Trostyanets City Territorial Hromada and the city of Montabaur is an example of effective international cooperation that combines humanitarian support, infrastructure modernization, energy sustainability, and local government development. Since the beginning of the cooperation, the German partners have consistently provided the Trostyanets hromada with practical assistance aimed at recovery and sustainable development.
One of the key areas of the partnership has been support for the community’s energy independence. Thanks to cooperation with Montabaur, Trostyanets received solar power systems, generators, and hybrid energy solutions that were installed in administrative buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities. This assistance helps ensure the stable operation of institutions even during emergency power outages and crisis situations.
An important area of cooperation is support for the municipal sector. With the assistance of German partners, the community received specialized machinery, vehicles, trailers, and equipment for municipal enterprises. This significantly strengthened the capacity of local services to respond promptly to residents’ needs, carry out repairs, improve public spaces, and maintain urban infrastructure.
One of the first buses transferred to the Trostyanets hromada after the de-occupation was provided by partners from Montabaur. This vehicle became important support for the community during the restoration of urban infrastructure and transport connections following the occupation. The German partners also supplied modern tools and technical equipment necessary for the operation of municipal services and the implementation of recovery works.
Another example of practical assistance was the donation of furniture and equipment for the community’s municipal pharmacy. This contribution helped improve working conditions and increase the quality of services provided to residents.
The partners also pay considerable attention to the social sphere. The city of Montabaur has repeatedly organized humanitarian aid for community residents, supported internally displaced persons, and provided holiday gifts for children from socially vulnerable groups. Such support carries special value and demonstrates genuine human solidarity.
The leadership of the city of Montabaur plays an important role in the development of cooperation. A significant contribution to establishing the partnership was made by former Mayor Gabriele Wieland, whose support helped launch the first joint initiatives and humanitarian projects. The further development of the partnership is actively continued by the current Mayor Melanie Leicher, who supports new joint projects and the expansion of cooperation between the communities.
Cooperation between Trostyanets and Montabaur has also created new opportunities for participation in international support programs, particularly in the areas of municipal development, energy efficiency, and sustainable recovery. Through this partnership, the community gains access to modern European solutions and additional resources for the implementation of important projects.
