Reliable Partner of  Trostyanets City Hromada

The partnership between the Trostyanets City Territorial Hromada and the city of Valmiera is an example of effective international cooperation that combines humanitarian support, the exchange of professional experience, the development of local self-government, and a shared aspiration for a European future.

One of the important areas of cooperation has been support for the community’s transport infrastructure. Latvian partners donated a comfortable bus to Trostyanets, which became an important contribution to restoring public transportation after the occupation.

Humanitarian support and assistance in equipping rescue teams have also been significant. With the support of Valmiera, essential supplies, medical equipment, fire hoses, as well as a fire truck and aid for the needs of the community and the Ukrainian military, were delivered to Trostyanets.

A separate area of partnership is healthcare and rehabilitation. Medical workers from the Trostyanets Hromada received training at Vidzeme Hospital in Valmiera, where they studied the organization of rehabilitation services, multidisciplinary teamwork, psychological support, and patient recovery after injuries, strokes, surgeries, and illnesses. This experience is especially important for the community’s plans to establish a modern rehabilitation center.

During working visits, representatives of Trostyanets studied Valmiera’s experience in the development of industrial parks, investment attraction, the organization of municipal police, civil protection, youth policy, culture, sports, and urban infrastructure. A significant number of the solutions presented by the Latvian partners were implemented with the support of the European Union, providing a valuable example for the further European integration of Ukrainian Hromadas.

An important role in the development of the partnership is played by the leadership of the city of Valmiera, particularly Mayor Jānis Baiks, as well as the Latvian office of the Association of Small Towns of Ukraine and local volunteer initiatives that consistently support the Trostyanets Hromada.

The partnership between Trostyanets and Valmiera is an example of true solidarity, practical assistance, and professional exchange. It opens new opportunities for the community in the fields of healthcare, security, transport, economic development, and the implementation of best European practices.
