Gennevilliers (French Republic) – a reliable international partner of the Trostyanets hromada
DATE of signing the partnership agreement: 21.09.2023
Current Mayor: Patrice Leclerc
The cooperation between the Trostyanets City Territorial Hromada and the city of Gennevilliers is an example of an effective international municipal partnership based on mutual respect, solidarity, and a shared commitment to supporting people during a difficult period for Ukraine. The French partners consistently demonstrate their willingness to assist the community not only through words, but also through concrete actions.
One of the key areas of cooperation has been the implementation of programs aimed at supporting children from the Trostyanets hromada. Thanks to the invitation and organizational efforts of the French side, children from Trostyanets have the opportunity to participate in recreational, educational, cultural, and awareness-raising visits to France. In 2026, the fourth trip of children from the Trostyanets hromada to Gennevilliers took place, demonstrating the stability of the partnership and the high level of trust between municipalities.
During their stay in France, the children have the opportunity to visit historical and cultural landmarks, participate in sports, educational, and creative activities, communicate with French peers, and learn about European approaches to youth development. At the same time, young representatives of the Trostyanets hromada proudly represent Ukraine and introduce partners to Ukrainian traditions, culture, and the realities of life in modern Ukraine.
A special role in developing the partnership and implementing the children’s visits to France is played by the Mayor of Gennevilliers, Patrice Leclerc, who has consistently supported the Trostyanets hromada since the beginning of the cooperation. Thanks to his personal involvement, attention to the needs of the Ukrainian side, and active position, a number of important humanitarian and social initiatives have been successfully implemented. His support has become one of the key factors in strengthening friendly relations between the communities and ensuring the successful implementation of joint projects.
It is also important to note that the organization of these visits is carried out with the active support of “Europe Prykhystok” – a European volunteer initiative launched in April 2022 in France, Ukraine, and Poland to assist Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war. The activities of this initiative have become an important element of international support for Ukrainian communities and children affected by the war.
Dialogue on community recovery, development of social infrastructure, educational initiatives, and new joint projects also remains an important area of cooperation. Such interaction creates a solid foundation for the further expansion of international partnership.
The partnership between Trostyanets and Gennevilliers is of particular value to the community and serves as a vivid example of how international cooperation can deliver real results, support people, and create new opportunities for the future.
