The reconstruction of a multi-apartment residential building in Sumy Oblast, to which 60 families will be able to return, has been completed. Major repairs began at the end of 2023, and in 2025 the design documentation was adjusted to take into account the needs of apartment owners, particularly regarding interior finishes.

As part of the project, a comprehensive set of works was carried out to restore and reinforce the building’s structural elements. In particular, the load-bearing brick walls were externally reinforced with metal structures. Engineering networks for electricity supply, water supply, and wastewater disposal were fully installed.

Apartments were fitted with internal partitions, new windows and doors, metal-plastic balcony units, window sills and window reveals. Floor screeding and wall plastering were completed. Ventilation equipment, heating radiators, and water and heat meters were installed.

Last year, the main construction work on the high-rise building was completed. In 2025, taking into account the needs of the apartment owners, adjustments were made to the project documentation, in particular regarding the interior finishing of the residential premises

Special attention was paid to the building’s protection and energy efficiency: a protective layer and waterproofing of the underground part were arranged with the installation of thermal insulation boards and drainage pipes, the façade was insulated, and canopies over entrances were installed.
In common areas, walls and ceilings were painted. In residential premises, decorative wall finishes with wallpaper were completed and suspended ceilings were installed. Ceramic tiles were laid in bathrooms, and new bathtubs, towel warmers, and sanitary fixtures were installed. Laminate flooring was laid in living rooms. Finishing works on balcony ceilings and floors were also completed.

In the basement, a basic shelter equipped with all necessary engineering utilities was arranged, with access ensured for people with limited mobility. Landscaping works of the surrounding area were also carried out.

The procedure for commissioning the building is currently underway. Once completed, residents will be able to return to their apartments.
The reconstruction of the building was financed by the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression.

Municipal web-portal "Global Trostyanets" of Trostyanets city hromada was founded in May 2026 as a quick response and gratitude to all our international partners who helped our hromada survive after the occupation in 2022 and develop today. To some extent, this is a unique web resource, which has no analogues in Ukraine.

Trostyanets is becoming an example of high-quality reconstruction and resilience. Financial support from the state and international partners has given us the chance to restore the housing stock, equip premises for the accommodation of displaced persons, create modern medical institutions, launch the educational process, revive and develop the municipal sphere.

Today we have already demonstrated that restoration is not only about rebuilding buildings. It is the path to a qualitatively new level of life for municipality! We have become an example for the country and a convincing signal for foreign donors: aid brings tangible changes.
