Builders have completed the main exterior work on the polyclinic, children’s ward and the passageway between the polyclinic and the inpatient building of the Trostyanets Hospital in Sumy Oblast. The buildings have been thermally modernized, and porches have been installed to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities and other low-mobility groups. Paving slabs have been laid around the hospital buildings.
The restoration of the Trostyanets City Hospital is being financed by the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. Subsequently, internal renovation work will begin on the stairwells and the passageway between the polyclinic building and the inpatient building of the Trostyanets hospital. The internal renovation includes finishing the walls and ceiling, installing lighting and replacing the railings on the stairwells.

Trostyanets City Hospital is a complex of medical and preventive departments that are functionally and organizationally interconnected, the purpose of which is to provide comprehensive medical care to the population of the Trostyanets City Amalgamated Hromada. Medical care covers 26,738 people.
The building of the medical institution was put into operation in stages: in 1987 – the polyclinic, and in 1988 – the inpatient complex and utility rooms. The complex of premises of the Trostyanets City Hospital consists of 7 buildings, with floors from the 1st to the 5th. The total area of the premises is 11,971 sq. m.
Today, Trostyanets City Hospital is a high-quality medical institution trusted by residents of the city and the community. It has 9 inpatient departments with 170 beds, and more than 200 medical workers work there. People come to the hospital for treatment, surgery, or to the maternity ward even from neighboring Okhtyrsky (17 km), Lebedynsky (40 km), Velyky-Pysarivsky (60 km) districts, as well as other cities and villages of Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions.
The main and global goal facing our community is to modernize and upgrade the Trostyanets City Hospital to the European level, integrate high quality standards in the provision of medical services and serving citizens, to increase the quality and longevity of life of Ukrainians, and to develop the entire medical industry in the country.
Unfortunately, as a result of the occupation military actions of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Trostyanets urban territorial community from 02/24/2022 to 03/26/2022, a large number of infrastructure facilities related to various aspects of city life were destroyed and looted in the city of Trostyanets: residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and municipal institutions.
During the occupation by russian troops, Trostyanets remained the most affected settlement and the only occupied city in Sumy region. All this time, the Russian invaders looted enterprises, institutions, demolished and destroyed civilian buildings and the city’s critical infrastructure.
One of the most damaged facilities in the community was the Trostyanets City Hospital, which was shelled three times by Russian troops with tanks and artillery. More than 12 departments of the hospital received devastating damage, some of which were quite critical. Despite all the horrors of the occupation, the Trostyanets community survived and every day takes confident steps to restore its territory, including the Trostyanets City Hospital. The hospital’s inpatient department received significant destructive damage due to military actions, and is currently undergoing restoration and repair work on its facade at the expense of the state budget.
In addition, with the community’s own resources and with the support of benefactors and partners, modern renovations were carried out in the hospital’s therapeutic department (with 33 therapeutic beds, 27 neurological beds), obstetrics and gynecology department with 25 beds (for pregnant women – 10, pathology of pregnant women – 5, gynecological – 10).
Despite the work already carried out to restore and modernize individual hospital departments, a critically important task remains – the restoration of the admission and diagnostic department, which suffered significant damage during the community occupation in 2022.
This department is the “gateway” of the hospital, as it is here that patients have their first contact with the medical system: initial examination, diagnostics, emergency care, and decisions about further treatment are made. Due to war damage and the lack of modern facilities, its work is significantly complicated.
The restoration of the admission and diagnostic department will ensure quick and high-quality admission of patients, relieve other inpatient departments, and increase the level of emergency medical care.
