Even amid the ongoing war, Trostyanets city hromada continues to recover and develop. A well-functioning municipal sector is the foundation of sustainable municipal development. Its uninterrupted operation requires sufficient specialized equipment for daily landscaping and sanitation work, as well as vehicles for public transport.
On the occasion of Trostyanets City Day, which we celebrated on 12 September, our international friends and partners presented with valuable and much-needed gifts: Volvo bus and a garbage truck Isuzu.
Volvo bus arrived to Trostyanets from Kesswil, Switzerland. This is already the fourth bus purchased for the residents of Trostyanets by our reliable friends, partners and benefactors, Mr Hans and Ms Sibylle Strack-Zimmermann. In total, they have spent more than €30,000 on all four buses!
These buses previously operated on routes in the Swiss capital and were maintained by the transport company BERNMOBIL. All of them are in good technical condition and feature spacious interiors, comfortable seats and folding ramps.
“There are currently five buses of this type operating throughout the community. They run on methane, which makes them both environmentally friendly and economical. Using this type of public transport already allows the community to significantly reduce fuel costs,” – said Yuriy Bova, Mayor of Trostyanets. “We are enormously grateful to Trostyanets drivers Mykola Savchenko and Andrii Kopylo, who drove the bus all the way here, covering a distance of 3,000 kilometres.”
The bus did not arrive empty — our international friends filled it with sports bicycles. As a result, another 30 bicycles for children and adults will be added to the assets of the municipal enterprise “Elehiya”. A bicycle rental service has been set up at the Neskuchne Arboretum, on the premises of the Centre for Compact Accommodation for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The service is intended for organised groups of children — participants in clubs and sports sections at the community’s municipal educational institutions.
Another valuable gift is a garbage truck from our friends and partners in Japan — the Association of Entrepreneurs headed by Kazuo Ueda, with the assistance of Tomoko Hoshino.
This is not the first piece of specialised equipment our Japanese partners have provided to improve the work of the city’s municipal enterprises.
The garbage truck will be added to the assets of the municipal enterprise “Ekoservis”. Although the vehicle is not new, it is in good technical condition. It will serve the small streets and lanes, parks and public squares which larger vehicles cannot access.
