Dear friends and partners, residents of Valmiera!
On behalf of the Trostyanets city hromada and on my own behalf, I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia!
On May 4, 1990, the Supreme Council of the Latvian SSR adopted the historic declaration “On the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia,” which marked the beginning of Latvia’s withdrawal from the USSR.
This day symbolizes the strength, unity, and aspiration for freedom of your people. It serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving national identity, democratic values, and state independence.
The heroic efforts of the Latvian people on the path to restoring their freedom and independence deserve deep respect and admiration in today’s democratic world.
Thanks to their indomitable spirit, unity, and hard work, the Latvian people not only revived their state but also made it a model of successful development and prosperity in a united Europe.
For Ukraine today, these values hold special significance. We understand more than ever the value of freedom and the support of true friends. We are sincerely grateful to the community of Valmiera for the solidarity, assistance, and partnership we feel during these difficult times.
I wish you peace, stability, prosperity, and continued development. May the friendship between our cities only grow stronger, and may our joint projects benefit our communities.
