The final part of our business mission to Tokyo for a delegation of mayors and representatives of Ukrainian business was a meeting with the mayor of Tokyo, or rather the governor (as it is called here, because Tokyo has more than 13 million people).
In terms of influence in Japan, this is essentially the second person.
That is why the reception of our delegation and the emphasis we placed on during the official meeting, which, by the way, received serious attention from the leading Japanese press and television, were so important. You can watch the TV report on our channel with Ukrainian subtitles.
On behalf of the delegation, Vice President of the Mayors Club and Mayor of Trostyanets Yuriy Bova thanked Japan for its support of Ukraine, which was the first time since World War II.
He thanked them for hosting thousands of our refugees, who are being provided with very serious assistance in Tokyo and other cities. He expressed hope for further relations on the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities and the involvement of Japanese companies in the reconstruction of our country.
It was a pleasure to present gifts from our delegation to the Mayor of Tokyo Koike Yuriko and to personally receive a commemorative album with the sights of Tokyo from the Mayor.
A surprise and a very pleasant moment of the solemn meeting was the communication with our Ukrainians who have now found their refuge in Tokyo and a short tour of the administrative building.
Also, at the meeting preceding the official reception of the Governor, the importance of further work on developing relations between the Tokyo Municipality and the Mayors Club was discussed with representatives of the Tokyo City Administration. Yulia Chufistova, Chair of the CMC Expert Council, handed over an official letter of cooperation.
In addition, we had the opportunity to watch presentations and talk to several deputy mayors from different areas and departments dealing with emergency situations, construction, and waste management.
