On November 25, 2024, German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger visited the city of Trostyanets in Sumy Oblast. “I am grateful to the German government and the entire German people for the support provided to Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor and in building a strong, democratic society. Your efforts in restoring destroyed hospitals, schools and infrastructure have become a symbol of unity, compassion and humanity. Germany has become for us an example of a nation that does not stand aside when the world faces tragedy. Today, Ukraine is fighting for the freedom and dignity of not only its land, but also of the entire democratic community. And your support gives us strength in this fight“.

Trostyanets was one of the first cities liberated in the Sumy region and is currently actively working on reconstruction.
Project Advisor “Special Support Program for Ukraine”/GIZ Ukraine Oleksandr Khoruzhenko noted:
“Trostyanets community has become a pilot in the implementation of such large-scale projects to restore the medical sector. At present, having made sure of the effectiveness of our measures and that it works effectively and brings benefits, we are implementing our projects in several more communities. In four more cities of the region, we have installed modular power plants on infrastructure facilities. We continue to cooperate with the Trostyanets City Council – a modular boiler house will be installed in the coming months. This will allow for economical heating of the city’s infrastructure facilities“.
