Rebuild Ukraine is currently taking place in Warsaw — an event that continues the work of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 (URC2025), held in Rome last July.

Ai Engineering CEO Eng. Piercarlo Montaldo officially signed an agreement with the Ukrainian company Metinvest and the Municipality of Trostyanets, Sumy Oblast, at the Italy Pavilion, in the presence of Davide La Cecilia, Ambassador Plenipotentiary for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Luca Franchetti Pardo, Ambassador in Warsaw, Fabrizio Giustarini, ICE representative in Kyiv, Roberto Cafiero, ICE Director in Warsaw, Amedeo Scarpa, Director of ICE’s Foreign Network, Yuriy Bova, Mayor of Trostyanets, and Tatyana Skripka, Head of the Reconstruction Projects Office at Metinvest.

The agreement with Metinvest and Trostyanets provides for the construction of a first residential district for approximately 4,000 IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) within the municipality, equipped with all essential services such as schools, hospitals, shops, recreational facilities, transport, and more, with a high level of sustainability in its broadest sense, encompassing both environmental and social dimensions.

“The new housing in Trostianets will be highly energy-efficient. The first results were presented at ReBuild Ukraine in Warsaw. In the presence of representatives of the Italian government, we signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian design organization Ai Studio/Ai Engineering and Metinvest on the eco-oriented design of a new city microdistrict,” Bova wrote on Facebook.

Previously, Metinvest presented four “Steel Dream” neighborhood concepts for Bakhmut, Mariupol, Trostianets, and Hlukhiv at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) 2025 in Rome.

The concept presented in Warsaw for Trostianets covers an 88-hectare site in the western part of the city. It combines residential quarters with a dendropark and includes key community projects such as an industrial park, biathlon complex, and rehabilitation center. Of the total area, 19 hectares are allocated for construction (10.5 for residential, 8.5 for public facilities) and 50 hectares for greenery. The plan includes five-story buildings with 6,595 apartments for approximately 11,600 residents, along with educational institutions—preschools for 630 children and schools for 800 students. Parking spaces total 3,530.

The planning solutions optimize sunlight, wind, and energy balance. The proposed solutions are 70% more efficient than the current European standard for new construction and approach NZEB (nearly zero-energy building) standards.

“This project will allow the construction of new housing for displaced persons with a 52% reduction in energy maintenance costs. The completed microdistrict will meet all three international eco-construction standards (LEED, BREEAM, Well – IF-U)”, – Bova added.

Municipal web-portal "Global Trostyanets" of Trostyanets city hromada was founded in May 2026 as a quick response and gratitude to all our international partners who helped our hromada survive after the occupation in 2022 and develop today. To some extent, this is a unique web resource, which has no analogues in Ukraine.

Trostyanets is becoming an example of high-quality reconstruction and resilience. Financial support from the state and international partners has given us the chance to restore the housing stock, equip premises for the accommodation of displaced persons, create modern medical institutions, launch the educational process, revive and develop the municipal sphere.

Today we have already demonstrated that restoration is not only about rebuilding buildings. It is the path to a qualitatively new level of life for municipality! We have become an example for the country and a convincing signal for foreign donors: aid brings tangible changes.
