We continue creating housing for people who were forced to leave their homes because of the war. A new house for internally displaced persons (IDPs) will be built thanks to the support of our community’s long-standing friends and partners — Dutch charitable foundation Open Door Ukraine.
Today, the first 40 building blocks made from compressed straw were delivered to Trostyanets city. This environmentally friendly material will be used to construct a 70-square-meter house on a site near the “Neskuchne” Compact Accommodation Center for IDPs.
The new house will be fully equipped for comfortable living. It will provide a home for displaced people arriving in the Trostyanets community who need safe and affordable accommodation.
This is another important step in supporting people who lost their homes as a result of russian aggression. For Trostyanets municipality, it is important not only to welcome displaced people but also to create proper conditions for them to build a full and dignified life.
Cooperation between Trostyanets city and the Open Door Ukraine Foundation has continued since 2022. During this time, the foundation has repeatedly helped the community overcome the consequences of the fighting and support its residents.

With the foundation’s support, the feldsher-midwife station in the village of Stanova, which was destroyed during the occupation, was restored. We received generators to provide electricity to educational institutions, the water supply facility, and the city council.
More than €14,000 was allocated by the foundation to equip compact accommodation centers for IDPs. The funds were used to purchase furniture, refrigerators, washing machines, and other essential household appliances.
Another €45,000 was allocated for the major renovation of the roof of the school in the village of Soldatske, which was damaged as a result of the hostilities.
We express our deepest gratitude to Open Door Ukraine and the foundation’s chairman, Robert Serry, for their years of support, trust, and compassion for our people affected by the war!
