Trostyanets city, Sumy region, is located 50 km from the border with Russia. For more than 30 days, the settlement was occupied by Russian troops. During this time, a significant part of the infrastructure was destroyed: a completely destroyed bus and railway station, enterprises and institutions, a hospital, all shops and pharmacies, administrative buildings, hundreds of private houses. The Russian military destroyed and stole all ambulances, as well as municipal transport.

The mayor of Trostyanets, Yuriy Bova, turned to Ferrexpo with a request to provide humanitarian assistance to ensure the livelihoods of the population in the Trostyanets urban territorial community. The company joined in solving the transport issue: it purchased and delivered a new ATAMAN A092N6 bus worth over 2.5 million hryvnias to the city of Trostyanets.

According to Yuri Khymych, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Programs at Ferrexpo in Ukraine, helping the population is currently a priority for the Company.

“Ferrexpo’s management directs its humanitarian initiatives to meet the urgent needs of our citizens. Trostyanka is in dire need of municipal equipment and transport. The bus transferred to the city will help ease the transportation situation,” he added.

Ferrexpo, which is among the TOP-3 global exporters of high-quality iron ore pellets with production facilities in Ukraine, has created a Special Humanitarian Fund that studies the needs of communities and promptly organizes their provision.

    About Ferrexpo:

Ferrexpo is a Swiss iron ore company with assets in Ukraine. Ferrexpo shares are included in the premium listing of the London Stock Exchange under the FTSE 250 index (ticker FXPO). The Group produces premium quality iron ore pellets for the steel industry, which, compared to the use of more common iron ore raw materials, reduce carbon emissions and increase the productivity of producers. Ferrexpo’s companies have been supplying raw materials to the global steel industry for over 50 years. In 2021, the Group produced 11.2 million tonnes of iron ore pellets, making Ferrexpo the 3rd largest exporter of pellets in the world with a market share of approximately 9%. The Group has a broad customer base, which includes steel mills around the world, including in Austria, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Vietnam and the USA. Municipal web-portal "Global Trostyanets" of Trostyanets city hromada was founded in May 2026 as a quick response and gratitude to all our international partners who helped our hromada survive after the occupation in 2022 and develop today. To some extent, this is a unique web resource, which has no analogues in Ukraine.

Trostyanets is becoming an example of high-quality reconstruction and resilience. Financial support from the state and international partners has given us the chance to restore the housing stock, equip premises for the accommodation of displaced persons, create modern medical institutions, launch the educational process, revive and develop the municipal sphere.

Today we have already demonstrated that restoration is not only about rebuilding buildings. It is the path to a qualitatively new level of life for municipality! We have become an example for the country and a convincing signal for foreign donors: aid brings tangible changes.
