In the last week of May, we were delighted to welcome the ‘Rebirth of Ukraine’ mission to Scotland – a Ukrainian trade and local government delegation led by Mayors’ Club Ukraine/Клуб мерів. This marked a significant milestone in strengthening long-term partnerships for recovery, economic development, and civic cooperation, to the mutual benefit of both nations.
The delegation included mayors, local government officials, business leaders, and representatives from national associations and institutions. With 60 delegates participating in the Scottish leg of the mission, the visit reflects a strong interest in Scotland’s expertise, values, and potential as a strategic partner.

The Cross-Party Group on Ukraine ’s Business & Economy Working Group was honoured to organise the event on 27 May: it offered the Ukrainian delegation an opportunity to learn more about the CPG’s work and Scotland’s ongoing political, economic, and social support for Ukraine, while also creating space for genuine dialogue and connection.
Delegates offered powerful insights into Ukraine’s recovery, and some CPG members and Ukrainians living in Scotland shared a moving moment of meeting mayors from their hometowns in Ukraine.
The gathering brought together voices from across Scotland, Ukraine, and beyond: united in their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and building long-term success.
We extend sincere thanks to Colin Beattie MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh, Convener of the Cross-Party Group on Ukraine, for his leadership and continued support. We are also grateful to The Scottish Parliament for welcoming the delegation and hosting a special Parliament tour, and to Dynamic Earth for their generous hospitality on the day.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the Consulate of Ukraine in Edinburgh Консульство України в Единбурзі, all our partners, speakers, and guests – and to the leadership of Mayors’ Club Ukraine, Yulia Chufistova and Yuriy Bova, as well as everyone who travelled far to be part of this important conversation.
