After signing the Protocol of Intent at the All-Ukrainian Recovery Conference held on July 10-11 in Rome, a new page of international cooperation opened for the Trostianets community. The city of Trostyanets and the Italian city of Silvi (Abruzzo region) have taken the first symbolic step toward officially becoming sister cities.
Last Saturday, July 13, a delegation from Trostyanets led by Mayor Yuriy Bova visited Comune di Silvi, a city on the Adriatic Sea known for its tourism potential, historical heritage and fascinating natural landscapes. The Mayor of Silvi, Andrea Scordella, Councilor Giuseppina Vallescura, the cooperation officers, assessors Beta Costantini and Matteo Colatriano, and councillors Maria Cicella and Vincenzo Caruso hospitably welcomed the Ukrainian delegation to the City Council.

As a sign of mutual respect, they exchanged gifts: Trostyanets handed over symbolic souvenirs, and Silva received a ceramic plate with the city’s coat of arms and local wine. This was the first step towards closer cooperation in various fields, from culture to economy and youth initiatives.
Mayor Andrea Scordella emphasized that cooperation between Comune di Silvi and Trostyanets hromada will develop in several areas: cultural and sports exchanges, partnership programs for young people, and interaction between businesses. Particular attention will be paid to people-to-people communication, from school initiatives to joint community projects.
“It was a cordial and friendly meeting that lays a solid foundation for further official visits and cooperation programs after the summer. We are excited to begin this journey together with the community of Trostyanets, which demonstrates resilience, courage, and a sincere desire to rebuild“, – said Mayor Andrea Scordella .
In turn, Trostyanets Mayor Yuriy Bova shared his impressions:
“Silvi is a fascinating city. The beautiful sea, golden beaches, green hills, rich architecture and infrastructure testify to the active development and careful attitude to its space. The feeling of your sincere hospitality and desire to develop a partnership that will definitely be mutually beneficial was especially valuable for us. I sincerely thank Mayor Andrea Scordella and his wonderful staff for their warm welcome and look forward to a sincere and fraternal cooperation in the areas of culture, tourism, and environmental policy“.
The twinning with Silva is both an exchange of experience and a gesture of support, solidarity, and unity between the Ukrainian and Italian communities. New visits, joint events, and projects are planned in the near future to strengthen ties between our cities and create new opportunities for residents of both cities.

For reference: Silvi is a municipality in Italy, in the Abruzzo region, Teramo province. Silvi is located about 155 km northeast of Rome, 65 km east of L’Aquila, 35 km east of Teramo. The population is about 15 thousand people. The city is known as a seaside resort, which is famous for its wide sandy beaches with a gentle entrance to the sea, which makes it attractive for family vacations. Also, the city’s surroundings are rich in natural parks and reserves, which is conducive to hiking and cycling. In May-June, the traditional Ciancialone festival is held, based on the legend of how the locals escaped from the Saracens thanks to the church bell and the courage of one boy with a torch.
