Trostyanets city authirity has been implementing a project for a long time, which involves the implementation of a number of measures to develop a local renewable energy network. Its main goal is to increase the energy independence of infrastructure facilities of the Trostyanets city hromada.
The first facility to receive a tool to save budget funds and increase the level of energy independence was the Trostyanets City Hospital.
A 45 kW solar power plant was installed on the roof of the children’s department in February, which ensures the operation of the building where the laboratories and the temporarily located polyclinic are located. This project was financed by the Swiss Confederation within the framework of the implementation of the European Energy Award, the amount of invested funds is UAH 3.3 million.
“The Association “Energy-Efficient Cities of Ukraine”, which includes Trostyanets, helped us in installing the solar power plant,” said Deputy Mayor of Trostyanets Maksym Sinyavin. – The operation of this power plant is monitored by a technical expert of this association using a special application, who will give his recommendations on adjusting its further operation depending on the amount of energy produced, etc”.
Thanks to special inverters and batteries installed in the basements of the hospital, the so-called “green” energy can be accumulated and used during power outages or in the dark.
“We have already experienced the benefits of using this power plant,» says Sergey Fedchenko, an energy engineer at the Trostyanets City Hospital, “the capacity of this power plant is enough to provide electricity to two floors of the children’s building, in addition to the X-ray and fluorography rooms. Since mid-February, the hospital has been saving about 10 thousand hryvnias on electricity bills every month”.
In addition, a 63 kW solar power plant has been installed on the roof of the hospital building and is in the process of being connected, which will ensure the uninterrupted operation of some of the hospital departments and the modular polyclinic, which is currently being built on the territory of the Trostyanets City Hospital.
