Today, Trostyanets city hromada welcomed our friends from the Netherlands. The city was visited by a long-time partner and friend of the community—journalist and philanthropist Patrick Haart—along with his friend Asing Walthaus, who was visiting Ukraine for the first time.
Patrick Haart has visited Trostyanets many times before; he is well aware of the challenges faced by border communities during the war and consistently supports Ukraine by combining his journalistic work with volunteer efforts. Thanks to his efforts and the support of concerned citizens in the Netherlands, a Land Rover vehicle was delivered to Trostyanets this time for the needs of the Trostyanets Police Station of the Okhtyrka District Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

The vehicle was purchased with funds raised by Dutch citizens and delivered through Asing Walthaus, a representative of the charity Hope4Ukraine. Such assistance is crucial for ensuring the effective work of law enforcement officers, especially during wartime.
The delegation was met by Natalia Kovalyova, secretary of the Trostyanets City Council, who thanked the guests for their ongoing support, attention to the community, and sincere desire to help Ukrainians.
The head of the Trostyanets Police Station of the Okhtyrka District Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Major Oleksandr Goncharov, received the car keys from Patrick Haart and expressed his sincere gratitude to his Dutch friends for their assistance, which will serve to promote the rule of law, public order, and the safety of the community’s residents.
After the official ceremony, the guests explored Trostyanets and took a short tour. In particular, they visited the museum of Lyceum No. 2, where they were deeply impressed by how the institution carefully preserves the school’s history and the memory of its graduates. The guests were particularly impressed by the exhibits dedicated to today’s heroes—the defenders of Ukraine, graduates who are currently defending the country on the front lines, fallen heroes, volunteers, athletes, medalists, and winners of academic competitions.
The Dutch guests also noted the scale of Trostyanets’ reconstruction following the occupation and hostilities. They saw how the community is rebuilding residential buildings, social facilities, and infrastructure, bringing life and development back to the city.
Asing Walthaus shared his impressions of his first trip to Ukraine. He said that before the trip, he had doubts due to the war, but now he is very glad he came, as he has discovered Ukraine and its strong, sincere, and unbreakable people.
We sincerely thank Patrick Haart and Asing Walthaus for their support, compassion, and assistance to Ukraine. We wish our friends peace, prosperity, and good health, and may all your good deeds be rewarded a hundredfold.
