Today GIZ Ukraine project “Strengthening the Resilience of Cities in the Area of Life-Support Infrastructure for Urban Municipalities in Ukraine” (SUR), funded by the German government and implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), delivered for Trostyanets city hromada two Modular Boiler Stations (on pellets), each with a capacity of 200 kW.
These boiler stations were installed at an extracurricular education facility (the premises of the former Treasury, which will be renovated and transferred for various events organized by the Children’s and Youth Palace) and near the Bilkivsky Rural House of Culture to provide autonomous heat supply to these facilities.

The modular pellet boiler room is designed for autonomous heat supply (water heating) of residential, civil, and public facilities; to heat water in closed heating systems to a temperature not exceeding 95°C by burning solid fuel in the form of pellets with a diameter of 6–12 mm and a moisture content of no more than 10%. The boiler room will be capable of operating on wood pellets with an ash content of up to 2.0% and agropellets (sunflower husks).
“A boiler room is a complex consisting of a modular building, primary heat-generating equipment (boilers), flue gas exhaust equipment, as well as auxiliary equipment for the hydraulic system and the boiler room’s automatic control system,” said Oleksiy Kotko, head of the Housing and Utilities Department.
“Last year (May, 2025), we received such a Boiler station from the German government, which was used to heat the premises of the Cultural Services Center and the P.I. Tchaikovsky Trostyanets Children’s Music School. This improved the quality of heating and significantly reduced heating costs. Therefore, this year we also sought such assistance to make other facilities independent of the centralized heating system.”

Boiler stations are equipped with automation that controls its operation at a level that allows the boiler room staff to work in “intermittent” mode; that is, the constant presence of staff during the boiler room’s operation to monitor it is not mandatory and is of an intermittent nature.
Extracurricular education today plays an extremely important role in the development of children and youth in our municipality. It is precisely these spaces that give every child the opportunity to unlock their abilities, find a passion that suits them, and develop creativity and talents beyond the school curriculum. Creating comfortable and welcoming environments in extracurricular education facilities is an investment in the community’s future—in the generation that will build the country.
Equally important is the development of culture in remote villages. Community centers remain hubs of life, social interaction, and the preservation of traditions. It is here that concerts, festivals, and gatherings take place, and where creative groups operate. Ensuring a stable heat supply to these facilities allows them to operate year-round, bringing people together and sustaining cultural life, especially during difficult times.

Modular 200 kW pellet boilers provide automated, high-efficiency heating for industrial buildings, greenhouses, and large residential complexes. These turnkey, containerized units include the boiler, burner, ash removal, and fuel storage, enabling rapid installation, reduced maintenance, and remote monitoring, with options for cascaded setups for higher power.
Key Features and Technical Specifications (200 kW range):
- Automatic Operation: Features include automatic pellet feeding, pneumatic cleaning for heat exchangers, and mechanical cleaning for burner grates.
- High Efficiency & Power Regulation: Systems often operate in a power range from 80-250 kW, providing high efficiency (up to 93%).
- Safety Systems: Includes multi-level security, such as temperature sensors in the burner auger, infrared flame sensors, and fuel supply line “breaks”.
- Fuel Flexibility: Designed for high-ash (agro) pellets and other biomass, allowing for lower-cost fuel consumption.
- Digital Control: Controllers allow for internet connectivity and integration with cloud systems (e.g., EcoNet) for remote control.
Modular/Containerized Advantages:
- Turnkey Solution: Reduced on-site construction time and quick installation.
- Mobility: The entire boiler room and fuel storage are mobile/relocatable.
- Flexibility: Options for modular pellet boiler houses from 0.1 to 10 MW.
- Space-Saving: Outsources the heating and fuel storage, saving space in the building to be heated.
